SALONICA (Mar. 22)
A decree of the Minister of Finance here has reduced the price of tickets issued to Palestine immigrants to one half their former price.
Considerable space has been devoted to a discussion of possible developments as a result of the decree, by the newspapers here. I Conomologos Athinon, leading economic journal, recommends that authorities facilitate transit to Palestine from this country, and “imitate the efforts of the Italian government in attracting tourists to the Trieste port.”
L’Independent refers to the interest which the Silbermann family, wealthy industrialists, is taking in the transportation of tourists and immigrants to Palestine by way of Salonica.
A number of Greek companies have studied the possibilities of instituting direct service between Haifa and Salonica. The Aktopolyia company and the Compaignie Nationale de Navigation de Grece have been studying the question.
