By defeating Roberto Grau, South American chess champion, by half a point, Aron Shwartzman, young Jewish player, won the South American Chess Tournament which closed at Mar del Plata on March 21.
Shwartzman, twenty – four-year-old son of a local Jewish business man, is a student. His playing was very highly praised in the local newspapers, La Prensa and La Nacion, which said that “much is to be expected of this young man”, “the most experienced of Argentinian chess players.”
