During the first month of the $500,000 twenty-fifth anniversary campaign of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities the sum of $155,700 was raised, it was announced last night at the first dinner-report of the drive, held at the Unity Club. Bedford avenue and Dean street.
County Judge Algeron I. Nova, chairman of the campaign, made the announcement to an audience composed of representatives of more than ninety divisions in the Trade and Membership Council.
Appealing for support from Manhattan residents, Supreme Court Justice Mitchell May, president of the Federation, pointed out that at least 150,000 members of Brooklyn’s Jewish population go to work in Manhattan each day.
The Federation has opened Manhattan headquarters at 1441 Broadway and its representatives reported last night that there was keen interest among Manhattan employers of Brooklyn’s Jewish workers.
