Isaac Brodsky, popular Soviet artist, has been awarded the Lenin Order, highest civilian honor awarded by the government.
His work was outstanding for several big canvasses depicting scenes of historical importance. They include “Meeting of the Second Congress of the Comintern,” “Assembly of Peasants,” “Lenin’s Address to the Red Army before setting out for the Polish Front,” etc. Many of the oils deal with portraits of leaders in the Soviet, and include Lenin, Stalin, Woroshiloff, and others.
Three years ago Brodsky received the title “Meritorious Worker in Art,” conferred only for outstanding work. According to the official resolution of the Central Executive Committee of the Soviets which was written over the signature of Kalinin, the Lenin Order was given “for exceptional services in the field of painting, for executing works of art in which he takes as his theme the proletarian revolution, Socialist construction and the defense of the Soviet Union.”
