Determined to get the facts and “break” subversive propaganda activities in the United States, Thomas Hardwick, head counsel to the Congressional Committee investigating such propaganda activities, today assumed his duties by outlining the course the investigation will take.
“We are not going off half cocked on this investigation,” he said. “We will be sure of our ground before going into anything sensational.”
Described by Representative McCormack, chairman of the committee, as a man who “has the courage of his convictions.” Hardwick is opposed to propaganda activities which lead to intolerance and bitterness among the various groups in the country. Hardwick is a native of Georgia, where as Governor, United States Senator, and representative in Congress, he fought the activities of the Ku Klux Klan.
HEARINGS THIS MONTH
The schedule of public hearings is being made for the committee and the hearings are expected to start later this month. In the meantime Hardwick is awaiting the results of secret investigations already started by the committee in several sections of the country where subversive propaganda centers are known to exist.
