The Jewish Agency for Palestine is required to post a guarantee with the Palestine government for the maintenance of every Jewish boy or girl who enters Palestine from Germany, it was pointed out by Louis Lipsky, co-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, in urging wide contributions to the $3,000,000 fundraising effort, so that a maximum number of such German Jewish children may be absorbed into Palestine.
The budget includes the traveling expenses from Germany to Palestine, maintenance and education to the age of eighteen, the guarantee required by the government of Palestine to ensure against any youth becoming a burden on the community, central supervision educationally and socially after settlement at various points and in various institutions in Palestine, and the erection of buildings for the housing and the teaching of the young settlers.
