The victorious march of Ibn Saud, ruler of Saudi Arabia, in his drive towards Sana, capital of Yemen, and his intention of creating a united Arabian kingdom, is engaging the attention of the British press in connection with its possible effects on Palestine, which is under British mandate.

The Yorkshire Post, largest conservative provincial daily, editorially commenting on Ibn Saud’s campaign, discusses its possible influence on the Arabs in Palestine where, it states,” we must watch with certain anxiety.”

The Observer, however, welcomes Ibn Saud’s consolidation of power as simplifying Great Britain’s problems by making it possible to deal with one ruler rather than with several in the Arabian interior.

“It is a purely Arab concern and it would be folly for a non-Moselm power to interfere,” it points out. “Concerning Iraq, The Transjordan, Palestine and Syria, Ibn Saud has given his word not to interfere. His word is to be trusted.”
