The Jewish Social Service Association’s new bulletin, Inside Information, which appears today, discloses that $21,000,000 has been expended in relieving the distress of nearly 500,000 needy families in the sixty years of its existence.
The organization was founded in 1874 in the aftermath of the panic of the preceding year under the name of the United Hebrew Charities, which was changed to its present title in 1926. It is the family relief agency of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies.
In its first issue Inside Information announces its purpose to be the interpretation of the welfare work done by the oldest and largest Jewish relief giving agency in the country. Miss Frances Tausig, executive director of the Jewish Social Service Association, explains its purpose further in announcing the publication of the bulletin.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
