The Jewish War Veterans of the United States expressed satisfaction over the Board of Estimate and Apportionment decision, passed Friday, to include the organization among the veterans’ groups sharing in an appropriation for decorating graves and other expenses of Memorial Day observance.
When $15,000 was appropriated for the purpose some time ago the Jewish War Veterans were left out, despite last year’s permissive act of the State Legislature which included them.
A committee made the rounds of various city officials’ offices, inquiring as to the cause of the omission. Finally on Friday Comptroller McGoldrick reopened the issue at the meeting of the Board of Estimate and without a dissenting vote $500 was granted for the Jewish group.
State Commander J. David Delman headed the committee which attended the Board session.
