Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities has raised $187,469 during the first seven weeks of its $500,000 twenty-fifth anniversary, according to County Judge Algeron I. Nova, chairman of the drive.
Judge Nova said the campaign will be pushed with the utmost vigor, “and if we fail to obtain the money the fault will be that of the contributing public.”
Supreme Court Justice Mitchell May, president of the Federation. Joined in a plea that the public generally should aid the Federation “in this year of its greatest emergency.” He said: “The $500,000 sought in our drive is the absolute minimum necessary to continuing the functioning of the societies at full strength this year. In case of inability to raise that sum, suffering among our people must of necessity greatly increase. If the Federation is permitted to fail, our suffering brethren will never recover from the catastrophe.”
