The largest army of volunteer workers to engage in a local Jewish philanthropic drive is mobilizing for the United Jewish Appeal which will open here June 3, according to Leo Lehman, chairman. The goal is $100,000, with some going to other charities.

Members of religious, social, fraternal, and civic bodies are joining hands to put over this campaign. A junior division has been organized to supplement the senior group. Twenty-three young people’s organizations are cooperating.

The junior drive will get under way May 18 when Rabbi Ralph A. Habas, executive secretary of the National Junior Division of the Joint Distribution Committee, will speak before representatives of the junior groups. The senior drive will open with a dinner on Sunday, June 3. Its scope, besides Pittsburgh, is the tri-state area of which Morrie Neaman is chairman.
