The Education Committee of the American Jewish Council is conducting a public speaking prize contest among the Jewish youth of Brooklyn. The purpose of this contest is to arouse greater interest in oral expression and public speaking. The council believes that public speaking is becoming of vital importance in modern life, particularly due to the importance of radio communication.
The contest is open to all Jewish boys and girls in Brooklyn under sixteen years of age.
Every institution, such as synagogue, Hebrew schools, YMHA’s, YWHA’s, Jewish centers, orphan asylums and the like, may select one boy or one girl to represent the institution in the contest. Medals will be awarded.
The education committee of the council consists of the following: Dr. Samuel Smith, chairman of the education committee; M. C. Comar, president of the American Jewish Council; Robert Aronstein, chairman of Board of Councillors; Edythe Levitan, secretary of the Council; Anna B. Frank, Estelle Abramson, Irving Levine, Louis I. Fried and Abraham Smith.
