With 10,000 students’ signatures affixed to it, a petition urging educational institutions to refrain from buying books and supplies made in Germany will be presented today to the presidents and deans of New York colleges and universities, according to an announcement yesterday by Dr. Joseph Tenenbaum, chairman of the Boycott Committee of the American Jewish Congress.
Students of all faiths from nine local educational institutions have signed the petition, which was framed by the college division of the American Jewish Congress. Colleges represented by signers are St. John’s University, Columbia, Barnard, Teachers’ College, New York University, City College, Hunter College, Brooklyn College and Long Island University.
Students groups sponsoring the petition include the Inter-Faith Councils, Menorah Association and the Avukah.
The Boycott Committee of the American Jewish Congress will present a series of Saturday midnight broadcasts on the boycott movement over Station WARD, Dr. Tenenbaum also announced. The first broadcast will be given Saturday evening at 10:30 P. M., and speakers will be Jacob Chaitkin and Rabbi Nachman B. Ebin. A. musical program will also be presented.
