Negotiations for a loan undertaken by the Jewish Agency for Palestine have not been completed yet, Eliezer Kaplan, member of the executive of the Agency, informed the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today.
Reports current here yesterday said that a loan of £ 500,000 had been negotiated with British and Palestinian bankers. The loan is to be used for the consolidation of Zionist debts.
“The Jewish Agency has been conducting negotiations for some time to obtain a loan for the purpose of consolidating debts,” Kaplan declared. “The matter was decided upon at the last meeting of the Actions Committee in Jerusalem. During the past few weeks the negotiations have continued energetically. However, the loan has not been obtained as yet.”
