At lat Hitler’s claims of Nazi Germany’s close kinship with the “Aryans”, which have so far always been dismissed with ridicule by the outside world, have found a distinguished defender in Llewellyn Powys, brilliant English writer, who agrees that at least the actions of Hitler???s Germany shows very lose kinship to the crudities of the original “Aryans”, those primitive barbarians who invaded India 5,0000 years ago.
“The way of the Aryans” is the way of the Aryans” is the way of the Nazis of today, Powys declared.
Here are a few of the striking parallels which he draws in the English Weekly between the Nazi Germans’ “Aryanism” and the original Aryans as described in India’s sacred book of the Veddas: “From the beginning the proud Aryan way has been a base, barbarous way, a way definitely opposed to every lofty conception of civilization.
“The Aryans have always been ‘wrong-headed.’ To be known as unparalleled killers before the terror-stricken populations of the world is the reputation they prize. They have been a race of destroyers, raping where they have not sown, estimating their success by the quantity of land they have appropriated, a race of rank herdsmen smelling of sour milk and cow dung.
‘In the Laws of Manu, which is probably the earliest written script to embody their effrontery, we see the Aryans for what they are. The heavy rationalizing of the Brahmans is identical with the heavy rationalizing of Hitler. Their ruthless brutality is his ruthless brutality, their arrogance his arrogance. With the slyness of ‘gay leopards’ these original Aryan aristocrats associate their low-born love of action, their predatory prowess, and impulses of cruelty, with that most hoary of all prevarications, the moral order of the Universe; “If a man of one birth assaults one of the twice-born castes with virulent words, he ought to have his tongue cut. If he makes mention in an insulting manner of the name and caste, a red-hot rod ten thumbjoints long should be thrust into his mouth… If a low-born man endeavors to sit down by the side of a high-born man///the king may cause his backside to be cut off. “Day and night should women be kept by the male members of the family in a state of dependence.’
“It was part of the approved morality of the Aryan to treat the original inhabitants of India abominably. ???On killing a cat, or a frog, a dog, a lizard, an owl or a crow, he (an Aryan) should practice the observance (ordered for) killing a Cudra (low-caste person).’
“The Brahmans may be taken as prototypes of Hitler’s favored crew; the Kshatriya as prototypes of the sabre-rattlers of the future; the Vaicya as prototypes of the merchants and yeomen of the Fatherland; the Cudra the prototypes of the deluded German working class, oppressed and exploited.
“The Chandala, bastard offspring of a Cudra by a Brahman woman-who may they be taken to represent? The Jew! It was ordained that their dress should be made of rags taken from corpses, and that they should were only iron ornaments. No religious instruction was to be given them, but they were to be left to worship devils. They were forbidden to use the water of streams and had to drink from the holes in the ground left by the hoofmarks of the cattle.
“Centuries upon centuries have passed, and we now have to witness a revival of the same superstitions, the same prejudices and oppressions’.
