United Appeal Speeds Forward in Cities Throughout Country

Headed by Judge Isaac Pacht, as chairman, and with Irving Thalberg as chairman in charge of the motion picture division, this city will begin a campaign next month to respond to the ### Jewish Appeal to the extent of $75,000.

Jack Warner, of motion picture fame, is one of the group of honorary chairmen, which includes Meyer Elsasser, Ben R. Meyer, Judge Harry A. Hollzer, George Mosbacker and Mrs. S. H. Berch. I. Irving Lipsitch is the honorary secretary and Herman F. Hahn, treasurer.

ATLANTA SETS $15,000 AS GOAL

Harold Hirsch and Leonard Haas have accepted the co-chairmanship of a campaign to raise $15,000 here in answer to the United Jewish Appeal, So Golden is secretary of the committee. Though no definite date has been set for the campaign, which is being sponsored by the Advisory council of the Atlanta community, active preparations for the drive have already begun.

COLUMBUS TOTAL REACHES $20,000

Final reports on the “silent” campaign in this city for the United Jewish Appeal and other causes show a total of $20,000 raised, it was announced by E. J. Schanfarber, chairman of the campaign committee. The United Jewish Appeal will receive a minimum of $7, 500 from the proceeds, with strong possibilities that this sum will be increased to $8,000.

ST. LOUIS ONLY $17,900 SHORT

With only $17,900 more to get, the leaders of the Jewish Welfare Fund campaign in this city, of which the United Jewish Appeal will be a substantial beneficiary, are optimistic that the $102,900 goal they are aiming at will be attained shortly, it was declared yesterday by Emil Mayer, Chairman of the campaign committee. Additional impetus has ben given to the canvas by the organization of a “special gifts” committee to obtain large contributions from leading Jewish women.

YOUNGSTOWN HAS RAISED $7,500 TOTAL TO DATE

The active phase of the campaign in this city for the United Jewish Appeal and other causes has closed with subscriptions of $7,500, it was announced yesterday by Joseph Friedman, Chairman, who with Clarence J. Strouss, Honorary Chairman and I. Harry Meyer, treasurer, have been conducting this effort. Mr. Friedman stated that he expected a considerable number of additional contributions would be obtained during the next fortnight.

The United Jewish Appeal with receive eighty-five per cent of the net proceeds of the local campaign
