The anti-Hitler boycott is not a Jewish enterprise alone, for the whole world is opposed to the Nazis and their fall is a matter of time, according to Rabbi Louis I. Newman of Temple Rodeph Sholom, who spoke last night over Station WFAB.

“If Hitler or his aides should take any overt steps against the German Jewish community, it is almost certain that the government at Washington would find itself under the necessity of making the long-delayed ‘intercession’ which liberals and humanitarians everywhere have so long anticipated,” Rabbi Newman said.

“The silence of the Roosevelt administration regarding the treatment of the German-Jewish minority has been a source of grievous disappointment, and contrasts sharply with the attitude and actions of previous U.S. governments.

“But if the Nazis Strike at the Jews by new legislation or new outbreaks, the long pent-up indignation of Washington would be certain to direct itself against the Hitler regime.”
