California’s oldest resident, Nathan M. Jacobs, is dead at the age of 106 years and eleven months.
Born in London, England, in 1827, he came to California on a clipper ship and made this state his home from that time on. He was a pioneer in Sacramento, later moving to alameda.
On his one hundredth and sixth birthday he smoked his usual daily quota of three cigars, drank a glass of beer, and said he looked forward to many more birthdays.
