Will the whole of German American society subscribe to the DAWA, medium of New York Nazis for the boycott of Jews and those not buying goods from Germany?

The question was to be answered tonight, when a resolution sponsored by the Stouten Society, urging adoption of the DAWA principles of buying only from stores not refusing German goods was to be introduced to the greatest and most significant mass gathering of German Americans in the history of German American society.

Despite meticulous precautions designed to keep Nazi elements away from the convention, including failure to invite the German ambassador or even the local consul or to allow the swastika top be flown, the fine hand of Hitler’s supporters is being exhibited in the more significant channels of affairs.

VOSS DAWA SPONSOR

In private meetings among various delegations, Dirk Voss of New York is recognized as one of the most active supporters of the DAWA plan, which was scheduled to be submitted by Theodore Hoffman tonight, when the Steuben Society was to take charge of the program.

Speeches, particularly that of Pastor Joseph Schmidt of Black Creek, Wis., who spoke on “What We German Americans Can Learn From Recent Developments in Germany,” have been severely censored by the convention chairman, Otto L. Fricke, and a special committee.

While they had not yet arrived, shortly before tonight’s session, it was certain that Carl Nicolai, representing the German American Conference of Greater New York, and othr Nazis both from there and other parts of the country would be on hand to act on two highly important resolutions being brought before the thired German American Congress at the Hotel Hollenden here.
