In connection with the first anniversary of the death of Cantor Josef Rosenblatt, Dr. Samuel Rosenblatt, secretary of a memorial committee with membership of national prominence, has made a summary of what has been accomplished to date by American Jewry in tribute tot eh celebrated cantor.
The committee is seeking to create a Josef Rosenblatt Memorial Fund, which would have a three-fold objective-the creation of a permanent memorial bearing the name of Josef Rosenblatt and perpetuating his contribution to Jewish synagogue music, the erection of a suitable mausoleum over his grave and assistance to his widow.
A concert was given last month in Baltimore, under the auspices of the committee, and others are planned this summer for Atlantic City, New York Washington, Philadelphia, Chicago and other cities. The unveiling of the tombstone over the grave will take place in July, when the cantor’s son, Dr. Samuel Rosenblatt, will be in Palestine. A Library is to be established at the Hebrew University in his memory, consisting of books in Chesnutt.
