Detroit Campaign Raises $140,000

The Allied Jewish Campaign, conducted here during the past two weeks for a quota of $175,000, was wound up with 80 per cent of its amount garnered, or $140,000.

Leaders of the Jewish Welfare Federation, under whose auspices the drive was conducted, announced that nevertheless solicitations will continue in an effort to raise the balance.

Kurt Peiser, executive director of the Federation and the drive, delivered the principal address at the closing meeting at the Hotel Stattler.

Henry Wineman, general chairman of the drive, declared that the agencies included in the campaign “will go on uninterruptedly.”


Hyman Krakower of 2270 Ocean avenue, Brooklyn, is to receive the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the School of Education of New York University at commencement exercises today. He has been a member of the faculty, Department of Hygiene, of the College of the City of New York, since 1930. From 1930 to 1932 he was on the faculty of the N. Y. U. School of Education.


More than 2,000 Jewish students are included among the 4,093 seniors of New York University who will be awarded diplomas and certificates by Chancellor Harry Woodburn Chase at commencement exercises this morning.
