The seventh season of the indoor “Camp Vacation,” conducted by the Y.M. and Y.W.H.A. here, will open July 9. Two hundred boys and girls will be registered for the six-week season.
“Camp Vacation” was one of the first of its type opened in this country. It started as a movement to bring into its fold Jewish boys and girls who could not go to mountain camps or seashore. Miss Belle F. Bernstein, women’s director of the “Y,” undertook “Camp Vacation” and offered a full program.
The Camp meets four days a week. On three days regular classes are held in arts and crafts, dancing, athletic games, newspaper work, etc. On the fourth day a trip is made to an outdoor spot or to an amusement park.
