Boycott of German goods and shipping has been very effective and should be supported universally, according to Joseph P. Ryan, president of the International Longshoremen’s Union, during his stay here.

“We should boycott not only the importers of German goods but also the importers of German hatred,” he declared. “The boycott is a legitimate and moral weapon, and it is only fitting that organized labor, whose entire ranks were wiped out in one foul blow in Germany, should fight shoulder to shoulder with other enemies of the hated Hitler regime.”

While here he learned for the first time that he was named to represent labor in a united front of all proponents of the boycott in America.
