The Commission paid a visit to Mayor LaGuardia yesterday afternoon. Mr. Darrow, who revealed then that he was named chairman of the Commission, commented to reporters as follows:
“Mr. Hitler? I hope they kill him. He is a very dangerous man, and the world would be much better off without him.”
The purpose of the Inquiry Commission’s hearings, he explained, is to gather a mass of material relative to the Nazi situation for use in case of future litigation in this country which might require explanatory background.
Neither Darrow, his colleagues nor the Mayor, discussed the German question during their chat. The Mayor described the visit as “a friendly call.”
