Mendel N. Fisher of St. Louis, executive director of the American Palestine Campaign for the Midwest and Southwest, sailed on the S. S. Majestic Friday for an extended stay in Palestine and Europe.
A farewell dinner was tendered him by a number of prominent Zionist leaders in New York on the eve of his sailing. Elihu D. Stone, vice-president of the Zionist Organization of America, presided.
Mr. Fisher has been for a number of years correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in Boston and St. Louis. He is now connected with the United Jewish Appeal.
Mr. Fisher is an active Jewish figure in the Midwest. The trip to Palestine was given him by a number of friends, Zionists and non-Zionists, in appreciation of his services to the Jewish cause.
He will spend several weeks in Palestine studying conditions. Mrs. Minnette Fisher, his wife is accompanying him.
