A new play in defense of Jewry, “The Bride of Torozko,” opened at Lawrence Langner’s Westport Theatre in Norwalk last night before a large and enthusiastic audience.

The play, written in German by Otto Indig and adapted by Ruth Langer, stars Jean Arthur and Sam Jaffe. The two were frequently applauded.

The play was directed by Herman Shumlin, Gilbert Miller and Lawrence Langner. The cast includes Beverly Sitgreaves, Rose Keane, Francis Pierlot, Frank Verigun, Harry M. Cooke, Joseph Spurin-Calleia, Dan Haflin and J. Brainard Daniels.

Miller and Shumlin are expected to bring the production to New York in the near future.
