Max Ascher, motion picture theatre magnate, died here last night at the Michael Reese Hospital. He had been ill for a number of years.

Ascher was one of Chicago’s pioneer theatre owners. He entered the motion picture business, with his brothers Nathan and Harry, in 1909. At one time he was reputed to have owned, with his brothers, the largest chain of motion picture houses in the world.
