Authorities were able to establish that the band has recently smuggled seventy Polish Jews into Soviet territory, all of whom paid large sums, as they were convinced that there was no hope of making a living in Poland.
Recent dispatches from Poland indicated that young Polish Jewish men and women, convinced of the hopelessness of remaining in Poland, and unable to leave for Palestine, were turning in large numbers to the idea of emigrating to Biro-Bidjan.
