A general strike looms in the knit goods industry following last night’s stormy session of the strike committee of the joint council of the Knit Goods Workers Union, branch of the International Ladies Garment Workers’ Union, at Stuyvesant Casino, 142 Second avenue.
Members of the strike committee, numbering nearly 200 workers, were told to go home and await telegrams notifying them of a general strike in the industry. Officials of the union intimated last night that the strike, which will paralyze the entire industry and effect approximately 18,000 workers, can be expected hourly.
