The recent inauguration of a luxury coach service between Haifa and Baghdad, which follows the transdesert route, is one of the wonders of the East. Covering a distance of 640 miles, the train leaves Baghdad every Monday morning and arrives at Haifa thirty-six hours later. The coach returns from Haifa every Thursday morning, reaching Baghdad on Friday nights.
Specially built for the rigors of desert travel, the Albion coaches of the train are capable of maintaining a speed of 110 h.p. The coaches have six Pullman seats and ten first-class seats. In addition ice-chests for drinking water and cooling food in hot weather, as well as steward service, is provided.
