Polo comes to a smashing point at the Fort Hamilton Army reservation Sunday afternoon at 3:30 when the Orange and Green mallet-wielders representing the local Army post cross mallets with the Governor’s Island delegation in the third match of the 1934 series for the Colyer Trophy. The division officers have won the first two games of the three-out-of-five series, and are favored to win this match; but the island rooters are determined to prolong the series and are in hard training this week for the match.
Lieut. Ben Jacobs, who has fallen sole heir to the popularity previously showered by the local fans upon Lieut. Homer Kiefer, will lead the division team.
Preparations are being made to take care of 6,000 fans, due to the popularity and great rivalry of the two teams.
The 1st division will take the field with Major Charles Lyman, Lieut. Bill Stephenson, Lieut. Ben Jacobs, and Lieut. Will Cornig, in that order.
The Coast Artillery band of Fort Totten will render a concert, before, during, and after the match.
