The Borough Commissioners here—all of whom are Christians—are perplexed. They have been asked to take a hand in the conduct of the Jewish High Holy Days services.

Maintaining that Congregation Sons of Israel loses financial support when guests or residents attend services in hotels, Joseph Silverstein, Borough Solicitor, has urged the Commissioners to adopt an ordinance which would prohibit hotels here from conducting religious services without the written consent of the Congregation, which has the only synagogue in town.

Action on the proposed ordinance has been deferred.
