With the shadow of a Board of Health padlock still hovering over Camp Wille und Macht, the local encampment for young Nazi goose-steppers, some 500 parents of the campers today swooped down on the tent colony to take part in a “Parents’ Day” celebration.
Seemingly unperturbed by the report that the camp had been condemned by health inspectors as in a “very filthy and unsanitary condition,” the parents spent the day in watching the boys execute military maneuvers and in defeating the heat by consuming plentiful quantities of beer. It was noted that the American flag was today considerably more in evidence than it was when the camp opened two weeks ago. Swastikas were less frequently seen than before.
According to the Jewish Daily Bulletin’s informant, Camp Wille und Macht was given until August 17 to rectify the conditions complained of by the health authorities.
