Efforts by Garfield and Hackensack Khaki Shirts to disrupt a mass meeting of the American League Against War and Fascism failed when more than 200 persons refused to join a disorderly stampede from Carpenter’s Hall. The Khaki Shirt group was led by Joseph Candrilli, alleged to be the leader of the movement in this section.
