Another interesting development of the week was the formation of a body aimed to weld 200,000 voters of German descent in New York City into a unit accepting the dictation of a small group which would pass on the “qualifications” of candidates for public office.

The move came from the now completely Nazified German-American Conference. Its committee on political affairs includes well-known pro-Nazi leaders who acted with celerity in ridding themselves of a chairman not too enthusiastically Nazi. The committee has not stated what stand it will take on Jewish candidates. It is noteworthy that formation of this body marks the invasion of the American internal political field by a group of followers of the head of a foreign state.
