Sir Herbert Samuel, noted Anglo-Jewish statesman, who was taken ill suddenly while visiting Glasgow, is resting comfortably in a hospital there, it was announced today. Physicians, who at first feared that it would be necessary to operate on Sir Herbert for appendicitis, now believe that he will recover without an operation.
Sir Herbert, who is sixty-four, was the first High Commissioner for Palestine. He has had a distinguished career in British politics as a member of the Liberal party.
