Magistrate Overton Harris yesterday dismissed the charge of disorderly conduct against Sufi Adbul Hamid, Harlem’s “black Hitler,” for lack of evidence in Harlem Magistrate’s Court.
The dismissal followed a four day trial during which Assistant District Attorney William Margolies attempted to prove the charge that Hamid had attacked the Jews at a street corner meeting on 125th street and Seventh avenue.
“If I found him guilty I would be saying that all Hamid’s witnesses are perjurers,” said Judge Harris.
Louis Lande, chief examiner for the Board of Aldermen, told reporters that another complaint will be lodged against Hamid in the near future and will be tried before a different magistrate.
