An attempt by four Christian missionaries to convert Jews praying at the ancient Wailing Wall, only surviving wall of the Second Temple, was reported here.

During the height of the morning prayers at the wall on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, three men and a woman carrying large “sandwich” signs calling for conversion of the Jews paraded back and forth near the wall.

They also distributed pamphlets entitled “A Challenge to Every Jew,” published by the Near East Scripture Testimony Press.

Upon requests of the worshipers, who were disturbed, police finally ordered the missionaries to leave.

Ben Gavrieli, Jewish journalist, who reported the incident in the Palestine Post, expressed curiosity as to the manner in which Moslem worshipers might have greeted such a “challenge.”
