Zionists Start Drive to Get ‘side’ Funds

A nation-wide drive to raise $100,000 for a Zionist Extension Fund was launched here yesterday as the Zionist Organization of American issued an appeal to leaders in communities throughout the country to cooperate.

All Jews, regardless of whether they are Zionists, will be asked to participate in the fund-raising effort, the Zionist Organization announced. The drive constitutes part of a program for the enlargement of American interest in Palestine through publication of periodicals, promotion of youth work and similar activities.

FISHER GETS JOB

Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization, announced the appointment of Mendel N. Fisher of St. Louis as national field director in connection with the campaign, which is to run simultaneously with the preparations being made for an all-Jewish American Conference on Palestine, to be held in Washington next January 20.

When the $100,000 goal has been reached, an intensive educational and cultural program aimed at bringing the ideal of Palestine nearer to American Jewry will follow, it is planned.

TO TOUR STATES

Fisher, who has been in the service of the American Palestine Campaign for eleven years, formerly worked for Boston and San Francisco newspapers. He recently visited Palestine.

Leaving Cleveland on November 6, he will follow this itinerary: Youngstown, Ohio, November 7 and 8; Corpus Christi, Texas, November 10 and 11; Houston, Texas, November 12; Chicago, November 14; state of Michigan, November 15 through 18; Omaha, Nebr., November 19; Minneapolis, November 21; St. Paul, Minn., November 22; Sioux City, Iowa, November 23; Des Moines, Iowa, November 25; Kansas City, Mo., November 26; St. Louis, November 28 through 30; Indianapolis, December 1; Louisville, Ky., December 3, and Memphis, Tenn., December 5.
