Areas planted to vegetables in the Emek, Nuris Complex and Jordan Valley regions have decreased because of a shortage in the supply of Jewish workers, it was stressed at a meeting called by the Thnuvah Marketing Association here.
The shortage results from immigration restrictions and a demand for laborers in other portions of the country, it was pointed out. The capacity for consumption of vegetables runs far ahead of the supply. Arab growers and vendors benefit by the inability of Jewish farmers to meet the requirements of the Jewish market.
