Denial that he had resigned from the chairmanship of the Council of the Jewish Agency for Palestine was made today by Sir Osmond E. D’Avigdor-Goldsmid, who labelled reports of his resignation unauthorized.
“Additional duties may necessitate such action on my part,” Sir Osmond said in a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, “but my support of the Jewish Agency remains wholehearted and unaffected. “
Sir Osmond, a prominent communal worker, has been active in providing aid for German refugees and was recently named president of the Jewish Colonization Association (ICA) to succeed Sir Leonard Lionel Cohen, who resigned because of ill health. Sir Osmond was named a baronet in the King’s New Year Honors List made public last January.
