A minimum of five million dollars were brought into Palestine by Jewish immigrants during the month of October, the Palestine government announced yesterday.
More and more Jewish capital is being imported into Palestine every month. Yet we do not hear that the Palestine government takes this fact into consideration when it comes to adjusting Jewish grievances. The number of immigration visas on the labor schedule granted for the next six months is still but half of what the Jewish Agency demanded. Jewish immigration into Palestine is still restricted.
It is obvious that the ones who benefit now from the Jewish immigration into Palestine are not only the Jews, but also the Arabs and the Palestine administration. Every incoming Jew spells new income for the Arab population and more revenue for the Palestine government. There can be no question that an unrestricted Jewish immigration into Palestine would only be a blessing to the country.
The Palestine government must once and forever abolish the immigration restrictions if it is actually interested in not hampering the development of the country.
