“In a typically American and wholesome manner the Boy Scout movement stands as a bulwark against Nazism and Communism, whose leaders have seized the energies of the youth of Europe and are misdirecting them in support of political end economic tyranny.” This was the tenor of the message conveyed by Dr. Ray O. Wyland, director of education and relationship of the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America, before the conference of the Federation of Men’s Clubs yesterday at the First Congregational Church of Richmond Hill.

Dr. Wyland said that scouting does not stifle the free and independent spirit of American youth
