Wevd to Give ‘moses’ on Air This Afternoon

We never make demands upon our readers. But—patronizing our advertisers does help us considerably

Arias and scenes from Rossini’s Biblical grand opera, “Moses,” will he heard for the first time in the United States when portions of the second and third acts are broadcast over Station WEVD at 12:45 P.M. today.

The principal parts in the radio presentation will be played by the original cast of opera stars, including Nino Ruisi as “Moses,” Costante Sorvino as “Aaron,” Rocco Pandiscia as “Pharaoh,” Giuseppe Radaelli as “Amenolfi,” Grace Angelau as “Miriam,” Perla Dorini as “Anaide,” and Elvira Helal as “Sinaide.” Signor Radaelli was brought here from Italy especially to sing the role of the Pharaoh’s son.

Massive stage sets 180 feet wide and 195 feet deep have been designed for the first presentation of the opera, by Lee Chenkin, at the New York Coliseum on December 1 and 2.

Proceeds of the two performances will go to the scholarship fund of the Yeshiva College, which is sponsoring the presentation. The broadcast is sponsored by the Coward Shoe Company.
