To the Editor, Jewish Daily Bulletin:
I, too, am a regular reader of your paper. I, too, enjoy the improvements made in your paper, as do many of my friends. But I especially enjoy the instructing and entertaining articles of Mr. Lewisohn. In fact, we look forward to receiving the Sunday editions of the Bulletin. They are a source of happiness and comfort to me and many of my friends.
Therefore, I was very much surprised and amazed to read the letter written by Mr. S. Levey, in the December 9 edition. However, after some contemplation, I realized the situation very clearly: Our dear Mr. Levey does not seem to agree with the ideology of Mr. Lewisohn’s articles. He is “nebach” of those Jews, that when “rain falls upon them, they conjecture as if someone spits in their faces,” in other words, they are self-conscious. Why don’t you say so? Why do you hide under a cloak of hypocrisy, anti-Zionism or Communism?
No, my dear Mr. Levey, Mr. Lewisohn has not lost his style; he is better now than he ever was. He is now the teacher and leader of millions of Jews here and abroad.
Again I want to assure you, Mr. Editor, that we consider Mr. Lewisohn’s articles the sparkling jewels of your paper.
