A meeting was held in the Jewish People’s House here in celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Union of Rumanian Jews.

The need of carrying on the fight for the preservation of rights which have been won was urged by Dr. Fildermann, president of the union.

This should be done, he said, not only in the interests of the Jews themselves but also of the unhampered developments of Rumania against disruptive influences.

Uriel Acosta, a free-thinker who had been brought up as a Catholic, committed suicide in 1640.
