had been another purge in the Third Reich. Purge reports were termed “propaganda” and “manufactured lies” in official German statements. Anti-Nazi elements were accused of “attempts to stir up trouble against Nazi Germany.”

Alarming reports about the new killings in Germany were discounted here, since all attempts to obtain confirmation in Berlin and other centers adjoining Germany failed.
