A resolution calling for the appointment of a commission to investigate activities of organizations seeking to foster inter-racial animosity in New York State will be presented by Assemblyman Albert D. Schanzer, Brooklyn Democrat, immediately upon the opening of the next session of the Legislature, he announced yesterday.
“Un – American activities of groups having their foundations and financial support in foreign countries—whether it be Germany or Mexico—should be stopped at the earliest possible moment,” Schanzer said.
“There is no reason why propaganda contrary to the provisions of the Constitution of the State and contrary to the Constitution of the United States should be permitted within our boundaries.
“I am a thorough believer in the doctrine of free speech but I do not understand that the right to incite one element of the population against another merely because they differ in religious belief is protected by that great principle.”
