Klemperer to Conduct Los Angeles Musicians

Otto Klemperer, former conductor of the Berlin State Opera, who was forced into exile by the Nazis because he is a Jew, will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic four months out of each of the next three years.

He has signed a contract to this effect, it became known today. He is leaving for Philadelphia to conduct the symphony there for two months.

Ibn-Sid, a Jew of Toledo, Spain, compiled astronomical calculations which were used by scientists up to the time of the modern astronomical discoveries.
