Dissatisfaction with the types of Jewish immigrants flocking into Palestine was expressed here by Dr. Chaim Weizmann, noted Zionist leader, in an interview in Doar Hayom, Hebrew daily.

Dr. Weizmann described the immigrants as “Oriental” and “ghettoistic,” and at the same time noted that they “are Westerners in the sense that they are fond of town life and easy profits.”

“I regret extremely,” he said, “the disproportionate urbanization of Palestine at a time when industrialization is dependent on the development of the Palestine market.

“My ideal for Palestine is a peasantry like that of Denmark with a high average standard of living,” Dr. Weizmann stated.
